The South Carolina Commission for the Blind uses state-of-the-art equipment to identify individuals who have or are at risk of developing eye conditions that can lead to permanent visual damage.
These are not comprehensive eye exams, which are conducted by an optometrist or ophthalmologist trained to make a definitive diagnosis and prescribe treatment. A comprehensive eye and vision exam may include: health history, visual acuity, tests of visual function and eye heath.
Organizations can sponsor our free vision screenings at locations such as health fairs, community events, primary and secondary schools or colleges and universities.
If problems are detected, our highly trained staffers can recommend a follow-up plan, but we cannot recommend specific doctors.
If your organization would like to host a vision screening, call 803.898.8731 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
